Interessant document: en dehors de la "Louison", l'un de mes centres d'interet est la chanson populaire. As-tu une idee de l'auteur? Je pencherais pour un chansonnier des rues, vu le style un peu naif et la simplicite des vers. Y-a-il en Pologne des documents analogues, relatifs a tel ou tel evenement tragique? Par exemple, ici, nous avons une complainte racontant les "exploits"et la mort de Mandrin, le "bandit bienaime", de maniere tres schematique et inexacte dans le detail d'ailleurs. Il en existe une egalement sur un autre bandit celebre du XVIII eme siecle: Cartouche.

Unfortunateluy I know nothing more about "pollet" song.I think such songs were very popular in the past in all european countries(especially among middle and low class of society) I know the old song(or rather melody and a few words) from Poland about slovak-polish mountains-robber Yanosik from XVIII century executed by hanging on the hook driven under the last rib(!!!!!!!!!!)

Truly speaking Janosik's origin was rather slovak but the his tradition even now is alive in both sides (polish and slovak) of Tatra mountains

What a terrible drawing of the guillotine! Some of those old eyewitness renderings are amazingly poor, as if the artists have no observation skills... weird considering that they are illustrators. Someone that had not seen a guillotine could hardly do worse

is more realistic and still no ideal( but who was perfect except Mr Deibler of course ;-)
