| Hi bois de justice ! Les trois bandit sont les chauffeurs de la Drôme. Liotard, Berruyer et David. Ils ont été exécutés à Valence je crois en 1909 ! | |

- Piotr,
Where does the newspaper cover you use as a logo come from? Did you post a full size picture of it? Who are(were) the three "heads"? Found in ebay. Famous triple execution in Valence http://img361.imageshack.us/my.php?image=valencetl2.jpg

| Incroyable trouvaille! This is a photo I had never seen before. Where did you find it?
Every time I see a new "real" photo I am surprised. How many of these photos are just sitting in some archive or someone's attic?

| Good detective work, Piotr... I had not noticed it was from the same picture. It looks like it has been blown up then "enhanced" with paint, like they sometimes did on old photos. I also hope there are many, many more of those historical pictures but it does seem that more and more time elapses between truly "new" photos appearing so I am thinking I have seen most of it... | |

- Thank you Piotr.
What a pity I don't understand Germain language because the fallbeils are really a part of guillotine's history, and not a small part!
Do you know if it exists some photographs (or movies) of executions with fallbeil? Was there other executions after the war? In answer to your question, after years of researching the subject, I have never found a photo of an actual execution using the fallbeil. However many good photos exist of the fallbeil which look as if they were taken just prior to an execution. I am surprised we have not found film or photos documenting an execution during the Nazi era. We have detailed written records but that seems to be the end of it. The fallbeil continued to be used after the war in both the Eastern and Western zones. A few new guillotines actually were built in this time period.
